Joey’s is going to school!

Posted on: July 10th, 2017 by Sheila Blackburn

Joey's has had the pleasure of hosting After School Mentoring Programs in Woodland Park and Coffeen Elementary schools in Sheridan over the last two years.  This year we will be joining two new schools for their own 36 day after school adventures, and we couldn't be more ready!

This fall we will gather our gear, wrangler our mentors and grab the kids in Sagebrush and Meadowlark Elementary schools to help them break the barriers of their gymnasium walls.  Our year long travels with these kids will include guest speakers from Wyoming Game and Fish, the USDA Forest Service and more!  When it gets cold and we are stuck inside each of the participating students will handcraft their very own spin rod and learn how to tie their very own flies or lures!  If we can't go outside...we "think" outside!  So much fun we will have with all of these new campers!

In recent years we have also shared with Sheridan High School, Tongue River and Big Horn Elementary Schools for their very own spin and fly rod programs during their school year.  In these private 6-8 week sessions we have helped many kids from First Grade to High school handcraft their rods.  From Pink to blue and gold, each has become a work of art to cherish forever.
