Rod Building

Can you imagine having your very own handcrafted spin or fly rod?  Our students have the awesome opportunity to create their own rod, in their very own way!  Each rod reflects the personality of its crafter. And imagine the look on their face when they catch a fish on a rod that they built!  Rod classes are scheduled September through May.

Spin Rods is our introductory class in the Foundation’s popular rod building programs.  This confidence building class allows each student to artistically create their own spin rod in a fun, comfortable, controlled and easy learning environment.

Rods I is the first of two fly rod programs.  These 6 week classes are smaller in nature and promote creativity, self-confidence, and continue the mentoring relationship Joey’s has become famous for.  More advanced than the Spin Rod program, each participant will enjoy personally creating and taking home a beautiful heirloom rod for their very own.

Rods II is a secondary fly rod class for preapproved advanced students.  This more ardent class strengthens techniques and relationships.

Joey's has helped kids in Woodland Park, Coffeen, Big Horn and Tongue River Elementary Schools and Sheridan High School handcraft their very own rods!  We can do the same for you!

Each student participating in advanced rod programs are required to offer assistance and guidance for newer students in beginning classes.
