Joey’s is going to school!

Posted on: July 10th, 2017 by gcollins

Joey's has had the pleasure of hosting After School Mentoring Programs in Woodland Park and Coffeen Elementary schools in Sheridan over the last two years.  This year we will be joining two new schools for their own 36 day after school adventures, and we couldn't be more ready!

This fall we will gather our gear, wrangler our mentors and grab the kids in Sagebrush and Meadowlark Elementary schools to help them break the barriers of their gymnasium walls.  Our year long travels with these kids will include guest speakers from Wyoming Game and Fish, the USDA Forest Service and more!  When it gets cold and we are stuck inside each of the participating students will handcraft their very own spin rod and learn how to tie their very own flies or lures!  If we can't go outside...we "think" outside!  So much fun we will have with all of these new campers!

In recent years we have also shared with Sheridan High School, Tongue River and Big Horn Elementary Schools for their very own spin and fly rod programs during their school year.  In these private 6-8 week sessions we have helped many kids from First Grade to High school handcraft their rods.  From Pink to blue and gold, each has become a work of art to cherish forever.

To learn how you can bring Joey's to your school contact us now!  Time, talent and supplies need to be secured well in advance to provide these amazing opportunities for your kids.

It's time to reflect on our last 10 years.  It doesn't seem possible that we have come this far!  We are very proud to celebrate our 10th anniversary with you!

Through our Foundation's many seasons we have grown tremendously.  In the next few months we will share with you our favorite stories.  Please help us celebrate our successful adventure.  It all would not be possible without the support of the many individuals, foundations and organizations that have helped us along the way.  We are better because of you.  Thank you!

Joey's Foundation had the opportunity to be featured not only once, but TWICE on Wyoming's Call of the Wild. We are grateful for the experience and also for the relationships we created filming both of these episodes.

The episode from Season 1 features Levi Wiley. Enjoy!

Our episode in Season 2 featured Raelynne Hardy, from Las Vegas, as well as our own Marisa Aldrete.
